Hand-Drawn Typography

Now that everything is done so easily electronically, hand-drawn typography is a lost art. Here are three crazy talented individuals that I've been following lately, with a knack for inspiring quotes, gorgeous photographs, and impeccable typography...

Victo Ngai illustration

Victo Ngai's illustrations are so so so so incredible. The incredible detail, colors, and the fantastical images completely blow my mind. I also love the Asian influence in his work!

MOR

MOR is a gorgeous "modern apothecary" brand from Australia, with extravagant, stylish packaging and refreshing, unique scents such as Neroli Clementine, Lychee Flower, Snow Gardenia, Kale & Watercress, and Peach Nectar. MOR's gorgeous range of cosmetics, soaps, lotions, and other products are definitely both visually stimulating and wonderfully scented. I love their Emporium Black line, and though I'm usually not one to spend $20 on hand cream, for Mother's Day I gifted my mother the Italian Blood Orange hand cream so I can secretly "borrow" it whenever I want! ;)

Mary Katrantzou

I'm not the most fashion-savvy person in the world, so there are few fashion designers that I really go crazy over. My two absolute favorite designers who can do no wrong in my eyes are Elie Saab (because really, who doesn't like his work) and Mary Katrantzou.

I'm pretty sure Katrantzou is a genius. I'm sorry, she is a genius. Her designs are bright, colorful, and completely unexpected-- her prints are made up of geometric shapes, photographs, florals, nature, architecture, and basically everything else you can think of. And while it might seem chaotic, it all just works. It works really, really well.

Katrantzou's fall/winter line for 2013 doesn't disappoint. Despite the simple forms and muted colors, each piece is an elegant work of art. Here are a few of my favorites:

Monica Ramos

Monica Ramos is an illustrator living in Brooklyn with a dreamy, whimsical style that reminds me a lot of Japanese culture! I love the childlike stories behind each piece of her work. Here are a few of my favorites:

Liberty London

There's a storm going on outside, and my mind is ready for spring break and sunny California. So when I saw the stunning floral prints by British design house Liberty featured in J.Crew's upcoming spring collection, I fell head-over-heels in love.

Tom Schamp

I fell in love with Tom Schamp's colorful illustrations this weekend. His work is so creative and fun, and pleasing for children and adults alike. I could spend forever just looking at every small detail in his work!
